Tula Probiotic Exfoliating Treatment Mask

Exfoliating Treatment Mask

While I love sheet masking for moisturizing and brightening the skin, it is important to incorporate other products into your "masking" regimen, especially those that exfoliate and clarify the skin.  Exfoliating products clear away dead skin cells so your skin treatments can most effectively penetrate the skin and also facilitate the removal of dirt and build-up from your pores.  One of my favorite exfoliating masks is the Tula Probiotic Exfoliating Treatment Mask.

I first learned about the Tula Probiotic Exfoliating Treatment Mask from one of my favorite Youtube beauty vloggers, Ingrid Nielsen.  I have been using this mask for about eight months - I utilize two to three exfoliating masks on a rotating basis, including this Tula mask, and typically use an exfoliating mask about two times per week.  I am currently on my second jar of this product and love the results.  This mask gently clears out my pores and makes my skin feel amazingly soft and plump.  It has a creamy consistency with small exfoliating particles throughout and has a cooling and soothing sensation upon application.  The exfoliating particles are not too harsh or abrasive, but don't get me wrong, this mask is still very effective.  It is applied for 5 to 10 minutes, which is great for a busy schedule.  Be sure to gently massage this product into your skin with moist fingers before you rinse it off for extra exfoliation.

Tula is a very interesting skin care brand that incorporates probiotics into all of their products.  The brand is actually co-founded by a gastroenterologist.  You likely have heard of probiotics being featured in foods, especially yogurts such as Activia, in which probiotics are the "friendly" bacteria that help to maintain optimal digestive health, but have you ever heard of probiotics in your topical skin care products?  For many years, dermatology research has been investigating the use of probiotics for the treatment of skin conditions such as acne and rosacea.  On the surface of everyone's skin is a community of bacteria, which provide a barrier that helps to defend your skin against toxins, allergens, and pollutants.  The application of probiotic-containing products is theorized to aid in maintaining a healthy and balanced bacterial flora and thus strengthen this skin barrier.

In addition to the probiotic (bifida ferment lysate), the Tula Probiotic Exfoliating Treatment Mask is also filled with many other skin-nourishing ingredients.
- Lactic acid and Bentonite clay to remove impurities
- Tumeric root calms skin inflammation
- Vitamin E, Camelina sativa seed oil, and Retinol (Vitamin A) provide anti-aging antioxidant benefits and improve tone and texture

I love that you can obtain so many skin benefits from one 5 to 10 minute application.  This mask is available on Tula's website for $54 for 1.7 oz.  Let me know if you've tried any probiotic-containing skin care products!
